Concealed Carry Fundamentals
Concealed Carry Fundamentals | Carry System & Defensive Readiness
Taught by a Rangemaster Certified Advanced Instructor, NRA-Certified Instructor and Range Safety Officer with a focus on beginner and first-time carriers.
Classroom instruction followed by live fire application at the range. All-inclusive — 50 rounds of ammunition, range fees, and safety equipment provided.
Owning a firearm and carrying one every day are two different things. This class teaches the second one.
Designed for responsible gun owners who want to carry safely and consistently.
You’ll learn how to build a carry system that actually works — the right holster, the right belt, the right position for your body and your life — and how to use it. Drawing from concealment, reducing printing, carrying chambered, managing malfunctions, and developing a dry fire practice that keeps your skills sharp without needing constant range time.
You’ll also leave understanding why concealment matters tactically, why Florida’s CWL is worth having even under permitless carry, and how to select the target areas that actually stop a threat.
This class focuses on how to carry a firearm, not how to shoot one. It does not teach basic shooting mechanics. Students new to firearms are strongly encouraged to complete Pistol Fundamentals first.
What We Cover
Safe Gun Handling
The Four Universal Safety Rules, negligent vs. accidental discharge, and clearing procedures as they apply to everyday carry.
Foundations of Concealed Carry
Why daily carry matters, why concealment is a tactical advantage, and the difference between printing and telling.
Why Get a Florida CWL — Even With Permitless Carry
Reciprocity, federal gun-free school zone exemptions, bypassing the waiting period, and coverage for additional weapons not included under permitless carry.
Carry Methods
Appendix, strong-side IWB, OWB, pocket, ankle, and off-body carry — honest tradeoffs for each and what makes a position sustainable for all-day use.
Holster & Belt Selection
What makes a holster safe and functional, why your belt is not optional, and how claws, wedges, and the keel effect reduce printing and improve comfort.
The Draw Stroke
The four-step draw from concealment, variations by carry method, drawing to low ready, and reholstering safely.
Reloads & Malfunctions
Speed reload vs. emergency reload and malfunction clearance for the three most common failures: failure to fire, stovepipe, and double feed.
Carrying with a Round in the Chamber
Why an empty chamber is a liability and how modern pistols and quality holsters make chambered carry safe.
Tactical Anatomy & Shot Placement
How handgun bullets behave in tissue, primary and secondary target zones, and why placement matters.
Dry Fire Protocol
How to build a structured home practice routine that develops real skill without live ammunition.
Live Fire Application
Structured range session applying what you learned in the classroom. Draw to first shot, controlled pairs, malfunction clearance, and emergency reloads. Every round is coached and purposeful.
